Tutorial - Class 2, improve your first mosaic project

In class 1, you created your first photomosaic.our skills.
Now, let’s make it looks better.

Rule 1: The More cells we have, the better quality we get.
If the whole mosaic size is limited (fixed), we can try decrease the cell size, by doing so, we can place more cells in same space. and this give us a more detialed result.

Rule 2: Larger photomosaic has better quality than smaller one.

A larger mosaic contains can provide additional space for more cells (keep same cell size), This would persents more detail information of the main image.

Rule 3: If possible, keep the cell size big enough, this would provide good quality of cell images

The photomosaic is created by a series of tiny cell images. If we set the size too small, you cann’t recognize the cell image.
Sample:

A4 Paper size photomosaic

A4 Paper size photomosaic

A4 size with smaller cell

A3 Paper size photomosaic

Rule 4: Load more photos to the image lib,  it will give you a better photomosaic.
While rendering a mosaic, we use a cell photo to simulate one or more pixels (colors), By adding more photos to the lib, we increase the chance to simulate more colors. I suggest you to load more than 100 photos for your mosaic project.

Make sure you loaded enough photos

I loaded 30 photos to create this mosaic

Rule 5: Increase Randomize Level would reduce the cell repeation.
Look at the above sample, You can notice the top left, a blue photo repeated again and again.
By set a higher randomize level, we allowed easy mosaic to pick a cell photo which is not 100% fit the main image color. so we have more choice for cells.

repeatition reduced, looks more smooth.

Ok, Class over. Go and try create some more photo mosaics.
I will see you guys at our next class.
